Nutritional Therapy is the application of nutrition science in the promotion of health and peak performance. It can identify potential nutritional imbalances and how these contribute to symptoms. This approach allows the nutritional therapist to work with children and adults on many levels by supporting the body towards maintaining health.
Catherine White set up Appetite To Live in 2012 having worked for more than fifteen years in the hotel and catering industries, which reflects her love of good food. In 2010 she decided to follow a lifelong interest in how food can be used to support health and vitality, and re-trained in Nutritional Therapy. She says, “I decided that this was a great way to learn further about healthy foods and how to use them to help attain and maintain good health so that we can enjoy our lives to the full.”
So why use nutritional therapy? Some people simply want to check that they are on the right track with regard to healthy eating. Others may want to lose weight or get help with their symptoms. Nutritional Therapists recognise that each person is an individual with unique requirements and take time to define a personalised nutrition plan rather than a 'one size fits all' approach.
Catherine is a member of The British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT), the UK’s professional body for nutritional therapists, and qualified through The Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION).
